| I begin with my opponent standing in my open guard. I am controlling his sleeves with my hands and my feet are placed on his hips. |

| To place my opponent in De la Riva guard I snake my left leg around the back of his right leg and hook my left foot around the front of his left leg. My right foot simply hooks the back of my opponent's left leg near the knee. |
| Next I quickly sit up and bend my left leg inward, wrapping it around my opponent's right leg. I then wrap my left arm around his right leg and drive forward. |

| This action will take my opponent down. Once he falls I secure his legs and move to his side. |
| I complete the move by securing a strong side control. |
